The
Safety Patrol at John Jones Elementary is comprised of 5th grade
students chosen to safeguard our students as they travel by car to and
from school. It is a great responsibility and each student is carefully
considered before being asked to be a Safety Patrolman, a position of
honor and trust. However, these are 11 year olds, so parents please be
alert and use you own good judgement. Always watch carefully when
pulling forward to get your child. We still have children who forget the
rules and may cross in front of you. BE WATCHFUL.
Our P.E. coaches are the supervising teachers. They appoint the students to be
on Safety Patrol for the entire school year. Each spring 4th grade
teachers are asked to recommend students who are reliable, good at
following instructions, and in giving them. The Safety Patrol students
must be on time for their duties, assertive, but polite in dealing with
parents and students, and above all, they must carry out their duties
efficiently and effectively, as their job is of utmost importance to the
safety of our students.
We wish to commend the Safety Patrol for a job well done this year. Also, the teachers, paraprofessionals,
and staff who supervise students at car riders are appreciated for
their help in maintaining order and safety for our students at JSJ.
Everyone keep up the good work!
The supervising teachers are our P.E. coaches. Please direct all concerns or suggestions to them. Cars will load and unload between the crosswalks only.
Pull up all the way and follow directions of the Safety Patrol. 2nd
lane car riders walk down the white line to the nearest crosswalk and
then cross to the sidewalk. NEVER cross between the cars - use the crosswalk. In the afternoons, have all the children riding with you sit with the oldest child in their grade, then give the oldest child's name to the Safety Patrol. A sign in the window can speed things up - First and last name of the oldest child and grade.
